"September last year we received the most devastating news. My beautiful 19 year old daughter Katelyn has ovarian cancer.

She was first rushed to hospital with a 10cm cyst on her left ovary causing an ovarian torsion. At midnight that night she was operated on to try and save her ovary. Doctors managed to save her ovary but during the operation the cyst ruptured.
Two weeks later we received the news the cyst was actually a Granulosa Cell Tumour and will affect her for the rest of her life. This form of cancer is slow growing that will keep growing back. The only thing that can be done is to have regular checks and as the cancer cells grow it will need to be cut out. Because the original tumor ruptured she is now stage 3 and has had her left ovary and fallopian tube removed.
What we all love about Katelyn is that she takes on every opponent head on and will not be intimidated. With cancer she is no different. She is not letting this stop her. She has started a new job working 30 hours a week, doing her Uni and doing extremely well, playing her sport and finding time to socialise with her friends. This year Katelyn will finish her degree and then she will become a specialist Nurse and maybe even a Veterinarian.
This has been so heart breaking for me see my little girl going through so much pain and stress and I can't do anything to help her.
So I have decided to help raise money for Ovarian Cancer in the hope that one day she could be cured. Please donate to Dry July and help me raise as much as possible."
