Patient and family centered care and support
Teal Support Program:
Women with ovarian cancer are central to the work of Ovarian Cancer Australia, to ensure they always receive access to the best possible, patient-centred care. Consideration must always be given to what is being done for those living with this disease.
Consultation via projects such as our consumer survey and the National Action Plan help identify gaps in support for patients and families. One of the gaps was access to specialised ovarian cancer nurses, leading to the development of OCA’s Teal Support Program, a free telehealth outreach program providing ovarian cancer expertise and identifying and addressing unmet needs.
OCA is grateful for the previous commitments from both sides of government to fund the Teal Support Program, and we continue to advocate to secure this funding ongoing.
Psychosocial research centre
Psychosocial research is integral to help focus on the issues that are key to those impacted by ovarian cancer, to improve their outcomes and quality of life. We know that resources in cancer research can be limited, so identifying the top priorities can guide researchers and organisations with their research collaborations.
