OCA announced as finalist in the 2020 HESTA Nursing & Midwifery Awards
OCA is honoured to be recognised as top 3 finalist for ‘outstanding organisation’ in the 2020 HESTA Nursing & Midwifery Awards. The awards are now in their 14th year and highlight the exceptional leadership and work taking place in the healthcare sector across award categories including Nurse of the Year, Midwife of the Year and Outstanding Organisation.
OCA has been recognised for research, advocacy and support for women affected by ovarian cancer to improve prevalence and survival rates. This includes securing a $20 million boost for ovarian cancer research and the development of a National Action Plan to coordinate research efforts.
Ovarian Cancer Australia CEO Jane Hill said she was proud of the team and honoured the organisation has been recognised as a finalist.
“The team at Ovarian Cancer Australia is very excited to be a finalist. Every day our team strives towards our vision to save lives and that no woman with ovarian cancer walks alone. Our highly qualified ovarian cancer oncology nurses do an outstanding job providing support information and referral for the 5,000 Australian women living with ovarian cancer. I’m always inspired by the willingness of my team to go the extra mile … Go team!” she said.
Over 10,000 Australian families have been helped by Ovarian Cancer Australia since its beginnings in 2001 with the key focus including providing tailored support to ensure no woman with ovarian cancer walks alone.
The Award winners will be announced on Wednesday 6 May 2020.
