We’re Stepping Up for Deb is fundraising for
This November our family are participating in the “Work Out For Women” fundraiser. Mum (Deb), Keith, Mitch, Nel, Tim , Mel, Loz and Troy, have created our team ‘We're Stepping Up for Deb” to raise much needed funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer.
We’ve decided to set a large combined fitness goal and take it on as a team. Here’s what we’re going for:
a) Step - walk over 1000 kms.
b) Up - doing 9050 push UPs and 6530 sit UPs.
The cause is close to our hearts... On Feb 9, 2019 our Mumma - Deb, was diagnosed with stage 2 High Grade Serus Ovarian Cancer. One week later Mum underwent radical hysterectomy surgery followed by chemotherapy but unfortunately the cancer recurred in January 2020. Today we await another clinical trial to start as Mum continues to fight the good fight - physically and emotionally. With us by her side of course!
Ovarian Cancer is the most deadliest and underfunded female cancer in Australia. There is no screening. Signs and and symptoms are subtle: bloating, frequent urination, cramps... pretty normal for most women right? Meaning it generally doesn’t get diagnosed until later stages, resulting in more devastating outcomes. The statistics are truly heartbreaking.
So please help us by sponsoring our team and donating much needed funds to Ovarian Cancer Australia helping to save lives and make sure no woman with Ovarian Cancer walks alone. No amount is too small and if you can’t donate at this time, all conversations creating awareness are welcomed.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and wish us luck! xxx
