This November, I have committed to run 24km every day to support the 5 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer each day in Australia. December will mark 4 years since mum, Lyn, passed away from ovarian cancer. Tragically, her experience is all to common: difficulty in early detection meant that the cancer was well progressed when it was finally diagnosed and despite some positive signs during treatment, she ultimately lost her fight approximately 15 months after diagnosis. So why am I choosing to run 24kms a day?
This November will also mark the 20 year anniversary that we lost our Dad, Peter, to cancer.
The alignment with the approaching anniversaries has resonated with me and has added a further sense of purpose in pursuing this challenge during November.
