Teal Team Volunteer Roles

Awareness Champion: Distribute Ovarian Cancer Australia’s brochures, posters, symptom diaries, and/or sell teal ribbons to raise funds in your local area. You could also organise your own fundraising events or activities.

In Office Support: Assist the Ovarian Cancer Australia team by answering the phone, updating entries in the database, compiling ‘Resilence’ kits for patients, writing letters, filing, researching, and/or any other office activities as required. Please Note: Our head office is located in Melbourne. If you think that you may be able to provide remote office support please contact us on 1300 660 334.

State Committee Member: (This program is in development and will commence in mid 2010). Join a small committee as an official representative of Ovarian Cancer Australia and help raise awareness and funds in your state. Your primary activities would be organising awareness and fundraising activities and events, including researching and booking venues, securing raffle prizes, assisting at events etc. You must be available to attend monthly evening meetings and report to the State Leader.

Community Ambassador: Raise awareness of ovarian cancer in your local community by conducting regular presentations about ovarian cancer at social events, community centres, schools, etc. You must be proactive, a good communicator, and confident speaking in public. Ovarian Cancer Australia will provide training and resources for presenting. If you are interested in this role please submit a CV or paragraph outlining your skills and experience and a list of at least six organisations in your area you would approach to hold a presentation.

Support Group Facilitator: Facilitate Ovarian Cancer Australia’s monthly patient support group in your state and help promote, plan and evaluate the group and manage patient registrations and confirmations. You must have experience facilitating or leading a group and be caring, empathetic and reliable with b verbal and written communication skills. If you are interested in this role please submit a CV or paragraph outlining your skills and experience. This role reports to Ovarian Cancer Australia’s Patient Programs Officer and requires a commitment of at least 5 hours a month.
