Support Groups

Why join a cancer support group?

Support groups are an opportunity for women with ovarian cancer to meet regularly to discuss common issues, share stories, gain more information, and receive emotional support to help cope with diagnosis and treatment.

Support groups vary in format; some have guest speakers, while others are more of a casual catch-up. Venues range from hospitals to cafes.

It is important that you join a support group that you feel comfortable attending and is most appropriate to your needs.

All of Ovarian Cancer Australia's Metropolitan Support Groups will resume on the 11th of February, from 10.30am to 12pm. The first meeting for 2010 will be a social support group. This is a great chance for women to catch up with each other and to welcome new women to the group. Come for a chat, a coffee and the opportunity to relax with people who understand your situation.

If you are interesting in starting a support group in your local community for women with ovarian cancer, or would like to register an existing support group, please contact Rebecca Steele at rebecca.steele@ovariancancer.net.au or call 1300 660 334.
