New support for rural and regional women affected by ovarian cancer
Ovarian Cancer Australia has launched an Australian first - a support service for rural and regional women who have been affected by Ovarian Cancer.
A new monthly tele-support group will bring together rural and regional women over the phone to access support, information and resources regarding ovarian cancer.
"Ovarian Cancer Australia has support groups in many metropolitan areas throughout Australia, but we do recognise that these support groups are not accessible to everyone," said Ovarian Cancer Australia CEO Karen Livingstone.
"Being part of the Rural and Regional support group will allow women with Ovarian Cancer to meet and share stories with other women in a similar situation, without the hassle and expense of traveling to a meeting".
"It is Ovarian Cancer Australia's wish that no woman with ovarian cancer feels isolated or alone and we are proud of this new initiative to ensure rural and regional women know that we are here for them," she said.
Women interested in joining the Ovarian Cancer Australia Rural and Regional Support Group need to contact Ovarian Cancer Australia on 1300 660 334 (toll free) to register and access the special toll free number for these meetings.
Meetings will be held at 7.30pm EST on the first Wednesday of each month.
